Evaluating Output Quality
Take a look at available color tools and technologies to improve your output.
When evaluating the output quality delivered
by the small-business-class color printers
and multifunction printers, first determine
the types of documents you most frequently
produce.
Do you need color output for simple, non-
business critical documents, or is your goal to
produce color business collaterals in-house,
such as pamphlets, newsletters and flyers?
Xerox leads the color printing industry,
delivering unrivaled print quality through more
than 20 years of technology innovations.

Resolution
Print resolution capability is typically
measured in dots per inch (dpi). However, a
laser "dot" can behave differently depending
on the printer. For example, the Phaser 6500,
Phaser 6600 and WorkCentre 6605 (all
covered in this guide) deliver up to 600 x
600 x 4 dpi, which produces an amazing 16
shades of color per pixel. Such print quality is
often perceived as being equal to or superior
to many 1200 x 1200 dpi devices. Other
factors contribute to print quality, as well,
including the presence or absence of the
features that follow.
PANTONE
Color
®
The PANTONE Matching System is the
definitive international reference for
selecting, specifying, matching and
controlling ink colors. Xerox
®
WorkCentre printers and multifunction
printers with PANTONE Color calibrated solid-
color simulations enable output to closely
approximate predefined colors in a Pantone
color table. This ensures that printed colors
consistently match your intended output,
which is critical when printing important
documents such as letterhead with color
company logos.
Adobe
PostScript

®
®
PostScript is a page description language
that acts as an interpreter inside the printer
or multifunction printer. With true Adobe

documents are printed with the utmost
brightness and the truest possible colors
and graphics.
