Chat options
View display names in BlackBerry Messenger chats
1.
On the Home screen or in the Instant Messaging folder, click the BlackBerry Messenger icon.
2. On the contact list screen, press the Menu key.
3. Click Options.
4. Select the Show Participant Names check box.
5. Press the Menu key.
6. Click Save.
If you added a contact that uses text messaging to BlackBerry® Messenger, you might need to change your text messaging options to view
names in chats.
Change how messages appear in chats
1.
On the Home screen or in the Instant Messaging folder, click the BlackBerry Messenger icon.
2. On the contact list screen, press the Menu key.
3. Click Options.
4. Perform any of the following actions:
• To change the color and style of chats by using a chat theme, change the Chat Style field.
• To stop grouping consecutive messages that you send and receive, clear the Combine Sequential Messages check box.
5. Press the Menu key.
6. Click Save.
Change voice note options
By default, you do not receive a prompt to accept or decline voice notes that contacts send you or a prompt to start recording before you send
a voice note.

On the Home screen or in the Instant Messaging folder, click the BlackBerry Messenger icon.
2. On the contact list screen, press the Menu key.
3. Click Options.
• To stop accepting voice notes automatically from contacts, clear the Automatically Accept Voice Notes check box.
• To stop recording voice notes automatically, clear the Automatically Record When Sending Voice Notes check box.
4. Press the Menu key.
5. Click Save.
Prevent chats from appearing in the messages application
