Customising your BlackBerry PlayBook™
Customising with a new wallpaper
• To take a photo and set it as the tablet's wallpaper, tap the Camera icon in the All App Category.
• Aim the camera at your subject. Tap the screen to show controls onscreen.
• To zoom in, drag the Zoom slider, to the desired setting. Tap the large Camera icon to take the picture.
• To set the image as the tablet's wallpaper, swipe down from the top frame to open the contextual menu.
• Tap Pictures to jump to the Camera Pictures menu. Tap the thumbnail of the image you just took.
• Swipe down from the top frame to open the contextual menu. Tap Set as Wallpaper.
• To choose among preselected wallpaper images and to set as the tablet's new wallpaper, tap the Pictures icon in
the All App Category.
• Tap the desired folder and scroll to and tap the desired image.
• To set the image as the tablet's wallpaper, swipe down from the top frame to open the contextual menu.
• Tap Set as Wallpaper.
Rearranging the icons
• To rearrange the icons in the App Category, tap the desired App Category tab, for example, tap the
All App Category.
• Touch and drag the All App Category up to open the menu.
• Tap and hold an icon until it starts 'pulsing' and until you see a tick at the left of the All App Category tab.
• Touch and hold the icon and slide your finger to the position you want it to be.
• Repeat the procedure to rearrange the icons to your liking.
• To move the icon to a different App Category, touch and hold the icon and slide your finger to the new
App Category.
• Tap the tick at the left of the All App Category tab to set your icons.
Setting Up BlackBerry Bridge™
If you're running BlackBerry® Device Software 5.0 or later on your BlackBerry smartphone, you can connect your
BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet to your smartphone to access email, calendars, BlackBerry® Messenger, files, and other
data directly from your tablet. Files and data must be stored on a media card to access them from your tablet. Your
tablet connects to your smartphone using Bluetooth® technology. To connect, you need the BlackBerry® Bridge™ app
installed on your smartphone. You can download it from the BlackBerry App World™ storefront.
• To set up BlackBerry® Bridge™ on the BlackBerry PlayBook™ and to pair with a BlackBerry smartphone, on your
tablet, tap the Settings icon. Tap Bluetooth on the left hand side menu. Drag the Bluetooth Connectivity slider to
ON. Tap BlackBerry® Bridge™ on the left hand side menu. Tap Setup. Swipe from the bottom left corner of the
frame to the centre of the screen to open the onscreen keyboard. Use the virtual keyboard to tap a name for your
tablet. Tap Return. Tap Install Now.
• On your BlackBerry smartphone, open BlackBerry App World™. Note: You will need to have a BlackBerry ID to log
in to App World™ and download BlackBerry® Bridge™. Press the Menu key. Select Scan a Barcode. Select Start
Scanning and point your smartphone's camera at the barcode on your tablet's screen. Once the barcode has
scanned correctly, on your BlackBerry smartphone, select Download to install BlackBerry® Bridge™ to your
BlackBerry smartphone. Select the Email field. Enter your BlackBerry ID email details. Select the Password field.
Enter your password details. Select Login. Read through the Membership Addendum. To continue, select I
Accept. Wait for the application to download. Once downloaded and successfully installed, select OK on your
smartphone.
• On your BlackBerry® Playbook™ tablet, tap Continue.
• Back on your BlackBerry smartphone; press the Back key to return to the All apps menu. Select BlackBerry®
Bridge™. Read through the license agreement. Select I Agree to continue. Select Add New Tablet. Tap Continue.
Point your smartphone's camera at the barcode on your tablet's screen. Wait while the connection is made. Select
OK. Your smartphone is now connected to your tablet with BlackBerry® Bridge™. You can now access all additional
BlackBerry® Bridge™ applications on your BlackBerry® PlayBook™.
• On your tablet, tap Done. Tap the arrow located beneath the Settings menu to close the application.
