3. DESCRIPTION AND USE
The SEKUR CAP NAVY range of self-contained compressed air escape breathing apparatus
includes the nominal duration of 10 minutes and 15 minutes. The total weight of the equipment
(in the 10 and 15 minute versions) exceeds 5 kg. It is therefore not considered suitable (as
defined in EN1146) to be carried by the user for an entire work shift.
The equipment is integrated into a chest carry bag with an adjustable shoulder strap. When the
zip of the carrying bag is opened, a locking pin is released, which automatically activates the
valve / pressure reducer. The pressure reducer ensures the maintenance of a constant average
pressure value, a pre-set nozzle provides, delivers a constant flow of breathable air through a
connecting tube to the front of the lid. When the cylinder is running low and there is less than
one minute of autonomy remaining, an acoustic signal indicates the end of the nominal duration.
The SEKUR NAVY CAP range of equipment provides the user with escape breathing protection
from contaminated or oxygen deprived environments in hazardous situations. Safety warning:
the duration starts from the moment of activation of the air supply and not from the moment the
hood is put on. The time required to allow the user to escape to safety is less than or equal to the
stated capacity of the equipment. When choosing an escape device model and duration, it is
essential to consider any potential hazards, such as storage location and escape route.
Note: although the bag has antistatic characteristics as required by the reference standard,
the SNC device is not designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
4. TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
The equipment is available in two versions of 10 and 15 minutes and differs by the associated bottle. In
particular, the 2L steel bottles are used for a nominal duration of 10 minutes and the 3L steel bottles for a
nominal duration of 15 minutes.
4.1. AIR FLOW RATE
greater than 35 l/min
5. PREPARATION FOR USE
5.1. PRELIMINARY CHECKS
- Check that the reading on the pressure gauge corresponds to the maximum filling pressure
of the cylinder (i.e. 200 bar). The needle of the pressure gauge must be within the green
section.
- Check that the seal of the bag closure is intact.
