Forward

The Duncan Fodder Chopper - Auger Bucket has been designed for feeding and chopping all roots. The

machine is capable of handling stones etc that may be in the crop BUT in doing so wear and tear will be

caused on the bearings rollers chains etc. Duncan shall not be liable for resulting damage from the debri in

the crop. The user shall bear all responsibility.

The Auger Bucket must only be used by an experienced competent operator who has been trained in safe

use of the machine, who has read the operators instruction manual and who is aware of the potential risks

involved in working with the machine.

Operators should read carefully all safety notes prior to using the machine in order to help avoid dangerous

situations, expensive repairs and prolonged downtime. In addition the operator's should read any relevant

legislation regarding health and safety and accident prevention applicable to the country in which the machine

is used.

Before and During Operation

Take particular care when mounting the bucket to the loader, insure it is securely locked in place, take care

when coupling the hydraulic hoses to the tractor unit.

Hydraulic oil under pressure can damage your skin. Always seek immediate medical advice in such

circumstances.

Never leave the tractor cab while the machine is running. Always lower the machine to the ground, switch off

the machine engine and remove the ignition key before approaching the working zone.

Blockages

Under no circumstances should the operator attempt to clear blockages by hand unless the engine is stopped

and the ignition key is removed.

Only use suitably qualified engineers working to the relevant standards and codes of practice when repair

work to the hydraulic system is to be undertaken.

If servicing work is required to the underside of the machine always provide adequate support devices to

prevent sudden dropping.

After any servicing is complete check all nuts and bolts have been tightened satisfactory.

Grease 40mm and 50mm bearings and roller pivots (AB8 Pin) weekly.

Use a suitable spray grease for chains weekly (AB12).

If the duplex chain (AB12) works loose it can be tightened by releasing the bolt on the nylon roller (AB11)

turning until the chain is correctly tensioned then reset the bolt.

If the auger flight gets bent normally at the entrance point this will cause the machine to take more power to

drive the auger shaft - ask for advice to correct this.

The main rotors (AB19 &20) when worn will also cause slower chopping these can be changed on our service

exchange scheme, we send out reconditioned rollers in exchange for your worn rollers.

The lower rotor (AB20) stops driving the following can be the cause -

Drive chain (AB6) broken

Sprocket key broken AB21 key broken

Taper lock (AB14) taper lock broken

The top idler roller stops (AB19)

This would be a small stone tucked in behind the cover, simply knock the roller back in the opposite

direction to release the stone, if too tight remove the two bearings and drop the roller out and remove

blockage, reassemble and test.
