Assembly

Your sharpener comes boxed fully assembled with the

modules all located on the power unit.

Decide which module is to be used and remove all the other

modules from the power unit for safety.

It is recommended that the power unit is screwed to a work

bench using the 4 holes on the base of the power unit (15)

(screws not supplied).

Using the sharpener

Starting & stopping

Note.

This sharpener was designed exclusively for

sharpening of steel. Do not use for any other purpose.

On/off switch

To switch the unit on press the ON/OFF switch (3) to the '1'

position, to switch OFF press switch to the '0' position.

Sharpening

Tool sharpening is performed by working against the

direction of rotation, with the tool support located on top

of the machine.

Sharpening planer blades and

chisels

1. Slide chisel and plane module

(16) onto power unit until it

clips into place.

2. Place the blade against the lip

of the plate (17). The magnets

will hold it in place.

3. Set the angle to the existing

bevelled face of the chisel

or planer blade.

4. Unscrew the adjustment knob

(13), rotate the plate to the

correct angle, tighten the knob.

5. Slide the blade down towards the grinding wheel (2),

make sure it just touches. Slide the plate away from

the grinding wheel.

6. Switch the unit on, wait a second or two for the grinding

to get to full speed.

7. Slide the blade and plate with a slight pressure back and

forth across the grinding wheel in a smooth continuous

motion. Do not hold the blade stationary – this causes

irregular sharpening.

8. Gradually slide the blade down the plate (17) while

sharpening.

9. Remove the blade at intervals to check the blade tip is

evenly ground, if not adjust the angle accordingly.

10. If sharpening small width chisels use the small chisel

guide (14), clip into place and grind as before.

11. When finished grinding switch OFF the grinding wheel

before removing the module.

12. It is recommended that after grinding the chisel tip is

honed on an oil stone.

Sharpening knives

Note.

This module (8) is for sharpening straight edged

knives and scissors. Do not use serrated edged blades.

1. Slide module (8) onto power unit until clipped into place

securely.

2. Switch the power unit ON, and wait a couple of seconds

for grinding wheel to reach full speed.
