Main memory
– The higher the capacity, the further away from the CPU the memory module
has to be mounted per channel!
– Performance channel mode is installed the same as independent channel
mode, but requires identical modules for the same slot on all channels per
CPU!
– Empty DIMM slots of CPU 1 must be fitted with dummy DIMM modules to
ensure sufficient cooling of the system.
3.2.3.1

Independent Channel Mode

This mode allows the memory modules to be arranged in any order in each
channel. The channels do not have to be populated identically.
You can use memory modules with different speed ratings within a channel,
whereby the settings of the slowest memory module are used for each
channel.
All channels work with the fastest common frequency.
All timings except for the clock frequency can vary between the channels.
Always start by populating the main memory at CPU 1.

CAUTION!
The empty DIMM slots of CPU 1 must be fitted with dummy DIMM
modules to ensure sufficient cooling of the system. In addition always
an air duct has to be mounted to cover the DIMM modules and the
dummy DIMM modules of CPU1.
If memory modules with different memory capacities are to be installed for a
CPU then the rule applies that the higher the capacity, the further away from
the CPU the memory module has to be mounted per channel.
The DIMM sockets must be populated per channel in the following order:
CPU 1: DIMM1A -> DIMM1B -> DIMM1C
CPU 2: DIMM1D -> DIMM1E -> DIMM1F
CPU 1: DIMM2A -> DIMM2B -> DIMM2C
CPU 2: DIMM2D -> DIMM2E -> DIMM2F
CPU 1: DIMM3A -> DIMM3B -> DIMM3C
CPU 2: DIMM3D -> DIMM3E -> DIMM3F
