It is important to ensure that the
kitchen is well ventilated during this
operation.
Prevent the odour from escaping into
other rooms.
Cleaning the hob for the first
time
Remove any protective wrapping and
stickers.
Clean all removable parts of the
burners with a solution of warm water
and a small amount of washing-up
liquid applied with a soft sponge. Dry
all parts thoroughly after cleaning and
then reassemble the burners (see
"Cleaning and care").
The griddle plate is oiled to protect
against corrosion. Clean the griddle
plate using a solution of warm water
and a little washing-up liquid applied
with a soft sponge and then dry
thoroughly.
The griddle plate weighs approx.
14.5 kg.
Tip: Remove the griddle plate from the
hob for cleaning.
Before using for the first time, clean
the hob with a damp cloth and dry it
thoroughly.
The metal components have a
protective coating which when heated
for the first time will give off a slight
smell and possibly some vapours.
The smell and any vapours given off do
not indicate a faulty connection or
appliance and they are not hazardous
to health.
Using for the first time
Burning in the griddle plate
The griddle plate must be "burned in"
before food is cooked on it. This
prevents food from sticking to it and
protects the surface from moisture.
Preparing the griddle plate for
burning in
Push the griddle plate rotary control
in and turn it anti-clockwise to the
large flame symbol .
Heat the griddle plate for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes turn the griddle plate
off and let it cool down.
The griddle plate will be permanently
discoloured after heating up. The
discolouration can increase over time.
However this does not affect the
operation of the griddle plate.
Place a maximum of 1 teaspoon of
vegetable oil with a high flash-point in
the centre of the cooled griddle plate
and wipe it around with a piece of
kitchen roll. Do not oil the corners.
Tip: Do not use too much oil. Excess oil
leaves behind a rubbery substance that
needs to be removed.
