2. INSTALLATION
The device can be placed on flat surfaces or desktops.
Once you have decided the installation place, please verify that there is enough space and
ventilation, and that the operating temperature and humidity ranges are respected.
Also be sure that all the necessary cables are near enough to permit a safe and clean
connection to the device ports.
2.1. DESKTOP INSTALLATION
Place the device on a firm flat space on your desktop.
If you are stacking more devices, be careful and avoid situations which could cause instability
or damages to persons or to the devices themself.
2.2. CABLES AND CONNECTIONS
The device has several RJ-45 ports that support connection to switch, hub or stations
running
at
10
100Mbps.

by the attached device).
Use 100 Ohm RJ45-
RJ45 UTP (Unshielded
Twisted Pair) or STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) cables.
Use 100 Ohm RJ45-RJ45 UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) or STP (Shielded Twisted Pair)
straight cables to connect to network cards. Use crossed cables to connect to another
switch or hub. See section "Cable wirings" for more details.
Use Category 3, 4, or 5 cables for 10Mbit/s connections. Use Category 5 cables for 100Mbit/
s connections. The maximum length for the cables is 100meters (328 feet).
Uplink
The device supports Auto MDI/MDI-X function, It will auto-detect the cable type when it
plug into Switch, and it means all ports can be use as Uplink port, and no need to use a
cross-over cable for uplink to other hubs or switches.
When inserting an RJ-45 plug, be sure the tab on the plug clicks into position to ensure that
it is properly seated.
