Installing the Electronics
The electronics come in a prewired harness. The only connections needed to be soldered are the switch
and pickups.
To install the electronics
1. Install the 3-way switch in the switch cavity.
2. Run the long red, black and white wires through the wiring channel to the switch cavity.
3. Place the pickups in the pickup cavities.
4. Run the pickup wires through the wiring channel to the electronics cavity.
5. Place the volume and tone pots in the holes.
6. Put the washer on each pot and thread the nut on until it is snug.
Using the wiring diagram, complete the soldering
Solder the switch wires
1. The red wire coming from the jack gets connected to the center lug on the switch
2. The black and white wires get connected to the end lugs on the switch.
3. The bare wires (grounds) get soldered to the lug on the center edge of the switch.
Solder the pickups to the pots
Each pickup has 4 wires. Only two are used, the green and the black/bare. The red and white wires are
soldered together and be taped off so they are insulated. (These wires can be used for coil tapping if
desired). The signal and ground wires get soldered to the volume pots according to the diagram.
Setup
Truss Rod
First, check your tuning. Put a capo at the first fret and press the sixth string at the last fret. With a feeler
gauge, check the gap between the bottom of the string and the top of the 8th fret—you should have
th
about 4/64
Sight down the edge of the fingerboard from behind the headstock, looking toward the body of the
guitar. If the neck is too concave (action too high), turn the truss rod nut clockwise to remove excess
relief (only adjust ¼ turn at a time) If the neck is too convex (strings too close to the fingerboard), turn
the truss rod nut counter-clockwise to allow the string tension to pull more relief into the neck. Check
your tuning, then re-check the gap with the feeler gauge and re-adjust as needed.
