MAINTENANCE

The Air Screen Refrigerator was designed to operate at a
range of 34 F (1 .11 C) to 40 F (4 .44 C) . The pull down time
(time required to go from room temperature to 36 F) is
approximately 40 minutes .
The Air Screen Refrigerator operates basically the same as
other refrigerated carts, except it maximizes air flow through
special ducts . The thermostat monitors the cart tempera-
ture and turns the condensing unit on when above setpoint
temperature . The condensing unit then condenses the
refrigerant to create the cold air, which is cycled through the
evaporator located in the top housing for the 1/2HP unit
and on the back of the cabinet for the 1/3HP unit . The two
center fans, which are always on, then circulate air through
the evaporator cold coils and into the cart . When the cabinet
reaches the set temperature the thermostat turns the con-
densing unit off . Moisture is removed from the air when the
condensate unit is energized . When this occurs, the mois-
ture will drip into the pan located beneath the evaporator .
The moisture then drains down to the condensate evapo-
rator, which boils the water away . When the cart door is
opened, the two outer fans turn on and increase the air flow .
This increased airflow through the ducts cause a screen of air
across the cabinet holding the cold air inside .
IMPORTANT:
To maintain proper temperatures in the air curtain and to
prolong the life of the compressor, the condenser coils must
be cleaned on a regular basis . It is recommended that the
coils be checked and cleaned every month . This procedure
is not covered under warranty, however is to be performed
only by qualified engineering/maintenance personal .
Cleaning procedure:
• Turn unit off and unplug from electrical power source .
• To access the coils, remove the louvered panels located
at the bottom of the unit .
• Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to clean
the coils . In extreme cases of dust and grease buildup,
compressed air may be required for cleaning the coil
fins . Use caution when doing this . The air curtain must
be moved to an isolated location to perform this proce-
dure . Once the coils have been cleaned, inspect for bent
coil fins . Straighten bent fins using a straightening tool
called a comb .
• The compressor motor and other components can be
cleaned using stiff brush or whisk broom .
PROCEDURE FOR REVERSING THE AIR
CURTAIN DOOR SWING
1 . Remove door . (See Fig . 1)
!
NOTE: Remove only the 6 bolts (3 per hinge) that hold
the door to the cabinet . Do not remove the bolts that
attach the hinges to the door .

2 . Place door on a table or flat work surface .
3 . Remove the switch strike plate (Button activator block)
located at the top of the door . (See Fig . 2) Reorient it to
the opposite end of the door and install .
