Do NOT allow a loaded or unloaded lifter to

make any contact with any objects, during
loading, lifting, or transporting.

Bumping the lifter, loaded or unloaded causes
excessive swinging.
•
Avoid swinging the load—Transport the load
slowly.
•
Do NOT use shock loading.
•
Do NOT drag loads along the ground.
•
Transport a loaded or unloaded lifter slowly and
smoothly.
•
Prohibit people from standing under a
suspended load.
•
Prohibit operators from leaving a suspended
load unattended.
•
Set the load down gently.

Establish a regular maintenance schedule,
based on severity of use and
environmental conditions.
•
Keep the lifter clean and operational at all
times.
•
Inspect lifter regularly for malfunctions, wear,
damages or missing parts.
•
Inspect the lifter regularly for damaged or miss-
ing ID tag, product safety labels, or lifter rated
capacity markings.
•
Prohibit removal or concealment of the identifi-
cation tag, lifter rated capacity markings, and
product safety labels.

•
Remove the lifter from service and tag the lifter
with an "OUT OF SERVICE" tag when the
lifter's condition or performance is
questionable: lifter malfunctions, lifter has
wear, damage, or missing parts.
•
Before returning the lifter to service, only a
qualified person shall comply with industry
standard requirements:
—making the repairs,
—Inspecting and testing the lifter before
initial use,
—keeping a written report of any repairs,
inspection, and testing.
Once lifter condition and performance is validated
optimal, a qualified person shall remove the "OUT
OF SERVICE" tag, returning the unit to service.
•
When the lifter is not in service, clean the lifter;
then, store the lifter in a designated place,
protecting it from damage.
•
When the lifter is stored for one month or
longer, perform a Frequent Inspection before
placing the lifter in service.
•
Modification to your lifting equipment without
prior written approval from The Caldwell
Group, Inc. voids your warranty. Refer to
ASME B30.20, regarding liability of repaired or
modified lifters.
