BlackBerry Signature Tool Use the BlackBerry Signature Tool application to send code signature requests to
the BlackBerry Signing Authority Tool. Send code signature requests when your
application code requires access to controlled APIs, classes, and methods.
UpdateJad Tool
You can use UpdateJad to change information in .jad files. For example, change
you can change the .cod file sizes listed in a .jad file, create .jad files that
reference multiple .cod files, and add additional attributes to a .jad file.
Use the Updatejad tool only on .jad files that you create using the BlackBerry®
JDE Plug-in for Eclipse, the BlackBerry® Integrated Development Environment, or
the RAPC command-prompt tool, and signed using the BlackBerry Signing
Authority Tool.
Type the Updatejad commands in the following format:
updatejad.exe -q -n input.jad [additional.jad]

Package installation
If you install BlackBerry Java Development Environment version 4.2.0 or earlier after
you install the BlackBerry JDE Component Package, the BlackBerry JDE Signature
Tool installation overrides the BlackBerry JDE Component Package Signature Tool
installation.
Impact: The registry uses the BlackBerry JDE version of the BlackBerry Signature
Tool.
Workaround: Reinstall the BlackBerry JDE Component Package to make sure that
the registry uses the BlackBerry JDE Component Package Signature Tool.
Using Eclipse with the BlackBerry JDE Component Package
To use the BlackBerry® Java® Development Environment Component Package with
the Eclipse development environment, you must set Eclipse to use a Java compiler
compliance level of 1.4.
Impact: When you compile an application, errors might occur when Eclipse attempts
to use a Java compiler compliance level other than 1.4.
Workaround: Perform the following steps:

Open Eclipse.
On the Project menu, click Properties.
Select Java Compiler.
In the Compiler compliance level field, select 1.4.
Click Apply.
Click OK.
