Ribbon Microphone

Thank you for buying the RM 15G Ribbon Microphone!

Classic ribbon microphones have got their renaissance in the digital world. The big,

warm, natural sound and the fast transient response, will make you turn to this mic

over and over again. 148 db SPL capability means you could use a pair of these as

overhead mics for drums. Electric and acoustic guitar is another perfect match for

the RM 15G. Ribbon mics have been a great part of the guitar sound to legends as

Jimi Hendrix, Pete Townsend and Mark Knofler. And once you have tried the RM

15G in front of a guitar amp, you will understand why.

The RM 15G is also well suited for recording vocals, accordion, strings, horns or as

a room microphone for choirs and orchestras.

Using the RM 15G

Connect a XLR to XLR cable or a XLR to ¼" TRS jack cable between the micro-

phone and the preamp or mixer. Be sure that the phantom power is turned off, as this

can burn the ribbon. If used for vocals or other sources with strong air blast, always

use a pop-filter to protect the fragile ribbon. Since the sensitivity of ribbon mics is

low compared to condenser microphones, you will have to use more input gain on

your preamp/mixer than normal.

Precautions

Do never blow into the RM 15G and always use a pop-filter when there is a risk of

strong air movements. Do never apply phantom power to the RM 15G since this

can burn the ribbon.

Avoid exposing the RM 15G to direct sunlight or extreme humidity for extended

periods of time. Do never move around fast with the mic in your hand as this can

damage the fragile ribbon. Always store the microphone in a vertical position to

prevent the ribbon to sag.

Warranty

Please check your RM 15G immediately when you receive it and make sure that

there are no problems with the mic. Due to the extreme fragile nature of ribbon

mics, the ribbon is not covered by the warranty after the first inspection. Aktiv

Audio warrants the product to be free in normal use of any defects in workmanship

and materials for two years from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover

abuse or misuse of the product, use contrary to the instruction, accident, ordinary

wear and tear or unauthorized repair.
