INSTRUCTIONS – Attaching to vehicle
NOTE: Regularly check that all nuts and bolts securing the awning to the vehicle
are tight and in good order.
There are many different vehicle set ups; your 4x4 TOUGH® Awning has been supplied
with a fitment kit suitable for many installations. However given the innumerable vehicle
set ups it may be necessary to adapt these procedures to suit your individual situation. It
may also be necessary to purchase additional set up components for your situation.
•
Decide which side of vehicle you require the awning to be installed; most common is
the passenger side, but either side can be used.
•
The side awning may either be mounted to either an existing roof tray or to an
existing set of roof racks.
ROOF TRAY FITMENT
1. Fitment directly to the side supports of a roof
tray. [Fig. 1]
•
Use the pre drilled holes in the short arm of the
L bracket [short arm must be in a true vertical
orientation] as a template to determine the
correct spacing on the roof tray side supports.
•
Mark the 2 hole positions.
•
Repeat the process on a second vertical roof
tray support, making sure the two L bracket
positions will result in the side awning parallel
with the vehicle.
•
Drill all 4 holes, using a 6.5mm drill bit.
•
Using 4 M6 bolts and 4 M6 Nyloc nuts, place the bolts in the channels incorporated
in the aluminium extrusion (2 in the upper channel, 2 in the lower channel) and slide
these along to align with the drilled holes. This is a 2 person operation. The final
position of the M6 bolts must result in a side awning positioning which does not
extend beyond either the front of rear of the vehicle. Partially tighten the M6 Nyloc
nuts.
•
Stand back, review, if all correct; proceed to tighten all 4 M6 nyloc nuts.
