Opener Spring Down Pressure Adjustment:
For planting in tire tracks and for no-till conditions,
increase spring pressure on individual openers or on
all openers. Adjust the spring together with the opener
frame down pressure and opener height to keep the
top of the opener parallel to the ground.
1) Loosen the jam nut (1) at the lower end of the
opener spring.
2) Tighten the flange nut (2) against the spring ten-
sion. Each 1/4 inch adjustment adds about 17 pounds
of force at the opener disk.
3) Adjust adjusting, lock the flange nut in place with
the jam nut.
The reference points for spring length (3) are the cen-
ter of the upper/front clevis pin (4) and the top edge of
the lower/rear spring stop (5)
The factor preset length is recommended for conven-
tional till and min till conditions. Shorten the length for
no-till conditions.
Opener Depth Adjustment:
Set opener seeding depth (1) by adjusting the press
wheel height.
1) Raise the openers slightly.
2) Lift and slide the T-handle (2) on each opener.
Adjust all press wheels to the same height. Each
adjustment of the T-handle changes the seeding
depth by approximately 1/4 inch.
Move the T-handle forward (A) for more shallow seed-
ing.
Move the T-handle backwards (B) for deeper seeding.
Note: If the press wheels are lifting off the ground,
increase hydraulic down pressure. If press wheels are
digging into the ground, decrease hydraulic down
pressure.
Opener Disk Blade Adjustments:
Opener disk angle and stagger is not adjustable, but
disk-to-disk spacing is, and may need to attention as
disk wear.
With ideal spacing the blades are in contact for about
1 inch. Insert two pieces of paper between the blades.
The gap (A) must be 1/2 to 1 1/2 inch.
If the gap is significantly larger or smaller, or if there is
no contact at all, adjust by moving one or more spacer
washers.
