Installing a Hard Disk Drive

A hard disk drive unit complete with controller card can be installed on the right side of the

· Expansion Chassis as viewed from the front. The controller card is mounted in the same

manner as other half-length cards with the hard disk drive mounted on the bracket provided.

An internal power cable harness will provide power to the hard disk drive and a cable

included with the purchase of the disk drive unit and controller card will handle

communication data transfer between the two.

5.1 Configure the hard disk drive and controller card for the desired configuration per the

maufacturer's instructions.

5.2 Mount the disk drive unit onto the Expansion Chassis hard disk drive mounting

bracket.

5.3 Connect the internal Expansion Chassis power cable harness to the disk drive

power connector.

5.4 Install the controller card per steps 4.1.1 through 4.1.7.

5.5 Replace the side panel.

5.6 Tum power to the system ON. If necessary, restart the MacCharlie application from

the Macintosh Commands menu.
