C. CH ARGI N G TH E BATTERY

I m port ant Not e: The backup bat t ery, which allows t he m ain bat t ery t o be hot- swappable, m ust charge at a low current .

Initial charge-time for the backup battery, therefore, is 72 hours. This initial charge-time is required prior to irst use or

aft er a full drain of t he backup bat t ery.

To charge t he bat t ery using t he USB Ca ble or Se r ia l Ca ble :

1. Connect t he power supply t o t he USB or serial cable.

2. Connect snap- on end of USB or serial cable t o syncing/ charging connect or at t he bot t om of device ( Hardware

Overview # 10) m aking sure t he JANAM logo on t he connect or faces front .

3. I nsert appropriat e AC adapt er and plug in t he power supply. Use only easily accessible wall out let s t hat are

easily reached wit h t he lengt h of supplied power cable.

To charge t he bat t ery using t he Sin gle - Slot or Fou r - Slot Cr a dle :

1. Connect t he power supply t o t he cradle.

2. Connect t he line cord t o t he power supply.

3. I nsert appropriat e AC adapt er and plug in t he power supply. Use only easily accessible wall out let s t hat are

easily reached wit h t he lengt h of supplied power cable.

4. Place the device in cradle. The LED will illuminate to conirm connection (orange indicates charging, green

indicat es fully charged and red indicat es fault ) .

5. The bat t ery is fully charged in approxim at ely 5 hours.

6. For Sin gle - Slot cr a dle on ly: Charge a spare bat t ery by placing t he bat t ery in t he spare bat t ery well wit h

connectors lined up. An LED will illuminate to conirm connection.
