Loading the envelope tray
Warning:
Never remove the envelope tray while a print job is printing. It could
damage the tray or the printer.

Remove the tray.
Note:
The envelope tray does not support automatic size sensing. You will
need to set the envelope size using the operator panel. Refer to the
publications CD for more information.

Squeeze the front guide lever
and slide the guide to the front of
the tray.

Squeeze the side guide lever
and slide the guide to the correct
position for the size envelope
you are loading.
Icons along the bottom of the
tray indicate envelope sizes.

Rotate the envelope bail to the
right.

Flex the envelopes back
and forth to loosen them,
and then fan them.
Do not fold or crease the
envelopes. Straighten the
edges of the stack on a
level surface.
Do not load bent or
wrinkled envelopes.
Envelopes with more than
5 mm (0.2 in.) of warp may
cause printer jams.

Place the envelopes against
the back left corner of the tray,
print side down, with the flap
towards the back of the tray.
Envelopes with pull-off strips
may have trouble being fed into
the printer. If so, load them with
the flap towards the front of the
tray. Make sure you change the
settings in your printer driver to
indicate that you have reversed
the orientation.
Note:
Do not exceed the
maximum stack
height indicated on
the back of the tray.
Overfilling the tray
may cause jams.

Squeeze the front guide lever
and slide the guide until it
firmly
touches the stack of
envelopes.

Rotate the envelope bail to the left side
of the tray until it rests on the stack of
envelopes.

Reinstall the tray.
Make sure the tray is pushed
completely into the printer.
Clearing jams
Jams in the envelope drawer can be cleared
in the same manner as a 500-sheet drawer.

information.
