specifications under the U . S . Department of Health and Human S e r v i c e s ( D H H S ) Radiation
Performance Standard according to the Radiation Control for Health and S a f e t y Act of 1968. T h i s
m e a n s that the equipment does not produce h a z a r d o u s laser radiation.
S i n c e radiation emitted inside the equipment is completely confined within protective housings
and external c o v e r s , the l a s e r b e a m cannot e s c a p e from the product during a n y p h a s e of u s e r
operation.

U . S . Food and Drug Administration ( F D A ) h a s implemented regulations for laser products
manufactured on and after August 2 , 1 9 7 6 . Compliance is mandatory for products marketed in the
United States. O n e of the following labels on the back of the product indicates compliance with
the F D A regulations and must be attached to laser products marketed in the United States.
