BEFORE USE

1. Remove the cover (1), take out the filter sponges (9) and wash them.
2. Rinse the filter mats (12) as well.
3. Place the cleaned filter materials back into the filter.
4. If you combine the filter with a UV-C device, you should place the filter on a solid, level surface at least 2 m away from the
pond. To avoid overflow, the filter should be placed on a level surface.
5. Lay the drain hose for the water outlet to the pond and the hose for the waste outlet to the sewer or flower bed with
sufficient slope.
6. Saw off the hosetail (21) at the correct point.
7. Connect the hose to the hosetail (21) and secure it with a hose clamp.
8. Place an O-ring (20) on the thread of the hosetail (21). Then push the thread of the hose pipe (20) through the water inlet.
Place a second O-ring (20) on the thread from the inside and then screw the outlet (13) onto the thread from the inside.
9. Now connect the other end of the hose to the pump.
10. For normal filter operation the dirt outlet must remain closed with the drain cover (23) and drain outlet gasket (22). If you
want to permanently attach a 2 inch hose, remove the sealing cap to mount the hose.
11. Attach the top cover.
12. Apply power to the pump. The filter will now begin to work.
The biofilter is a biological filter system and when newly installed, requires several weeks to develop its full biological
effectiveness.
CLEANING/MAINTENANCE
Always disconnect the pump from the mains before carrying out cleaning and maintenance work!
The unit should only be cleaned when necessary - see turbidimeter (4). No chemical cleaning agents should be used for this,
as these can destroy the bacteria in the filter sponges. As soon as the turbidimeter is visible, disconnect the pump and the (op-
tional) UV unit from the power supply and open the cover. Remove the filter sponges from the filter sponge holders (8). Slowly
squeeze the filter sponges out of the sponge holder (8, 9) several times. If necessary, clean the filter sponges with clear water.
Open the cover of the dirt disposal until the water has drained off completely.
At temperatures below 8 °C or above 40 °C, the device must be taken out of operation! Empty the device and clean it thoroughly.
Remove all filter materials for drying. Let the filter materials winter in a frost-free, dry place. Cover the filter housing to prevent
rainwater from entering. Drain all hoses, pipes and connections, if possible.
When putting the filters back into operation, reinstall them with the open side towards the outlet.
