PowerConnect 5500 Series Release Notes
User cannot set TE port speed to 100 via
EWS. This can be done only VIA CLI
every once in a while port flapping would
occur, in some cases when a large number of
POE edge equipment is connected to device,
and in addition there are some non-POE
equipment connected as well
User Impact
Nessus scan on device discovers a false
xss scripting vulnerability (CVE-2002-
1060, CVE-2003-1543, CVE-2005-2453,
CVE-2006-1681)
1. Hysteresis values was not accurate –
Fans went On and Off in high rate
2. When the Software turns off the fan
due to low temperature - there is a
syslog message in warning level
3. Show system showed the Fan as not-
operational when the Software turned off
the Fan
When performing an SNMP walk – the
device would return MIB information for
all interfaces of the stack (even those
that are in non-present state ) – SNMP
walk performance was low
Subject to Change Without Notice
WEB GUI fixed
Fixed the problem
Resolution
Removed the false vulnerability
report by ignoring the script name
in the scan and returning error on
the page
1. Updated new Hysteresis
values
Below 40° Celsius – Fan is Off
Above 50° Celsius – Fan is On
2. Changing the level of the
syslog to informational in case
the fans are turned off by
software due to low temperature.
3. Software now distinguishes
between the state of a failure
FAN and a Fan that is not
working due to software decision.
These are the status displayed
for each situation:
IDLE – Fan was turned off by
software state due to low
temperature
ON – Fan is operational due to
high temperature
FAILURE – Fan not functioning
due to a problem
SNMP walk on ifTable and
swIfTable MIBs will walk only
existing interfaces in the stack
