DESCRIPTION
The BURNDY® MR 15-18-20 HYTOOL
TM
incorporates a full cycle ratchet mechanism that provides a
complete, positive crimp each time. Once started the ratchet mechanism does not allow the handles
to be opened until after the full ratcheting cycle is completed, unless the user actuates the emergency
release lever. This provides for a completed crimp before a connector can be removed from the tool.
TOOL IDENTIFICATION
The MR15-18-20 have common tool frames with different die sets for each tool. To identify your tool,
look at the tip of the jaws for the individual catalog numbers shown on the individual die.
MRTOOLKIT:
If you purchased an MRTOOLKIT follow these instructions when changing dies. The nest portion of the
die set is always installed in the top fixed side of the tool jaw with the catalog number facing outward.
The indentor portion is always installed on the bottom movable side of the tool jaw with the catalog
number facing out. To ensure proper die installation, look at the front angled edge of the die set and
make sure that the catalog numbers are visible.
OPERATION
1.
Open the tool. Place the terminal into the correct die nest.
2.
Partially close the tool until the terminal is held in place.
3.
Insert the wire into the terminal.
4.
Close the tool until the ratchet releases.
HOW TO ADJUST
It is sometimes necessary to adjust the crimp force.
1.
Remove the allen key bolt from the eccentric axle.
