c) The image is not

forgot to reattach the upper stopper

screw.

Reattach the upper stopper screw.

d) Coarse adjustment will

not go all the way up.

You are trying to raise the Stage with

the coarse adjustment

knob with the

pre-focusing lever engaged.

Unlack the pre-focusing lever.

e) Coarse adjustment will

not go all the way down,

The condenser holder is too low.

Raise the condenser holder

f) The objective

contact with the speci-

men before focus

obtained.

4. Observation

Incorrect diopter adjustment

Adjust the diopter.

Different eyepieces are used on the left

and right.

Change one eyepiece to match the other

so that both sides are the same type.

The Optical axes are not parallel.

Upon looking into the eyepieces,

try

looking at the Overall field before con-

centrating on the specimen range. You

may also find it helpful to look up and

into the distance for a moment before

looking back into the microscope.

a) The image shifts when

you tauch the Stage.

b) Specimen
