6.
MISSING, LOST OR STOLEN PORTABLE RADIOS
6.1
As soon as a HT is discovered missing, it is imperative that the Officer on duty
immediately make the following notifications:
6.1.1 Radio Shop via email,
6.1.2 FDOC via email, [email protected], and telephone 718-999-7900.
6.1.3 Telephone administrative Battalion, and Division.
6.1.4 Follow instructions in Addendum 4 for temporary replacement. RT-2 shall state
"Radio Missing".
Note: This notification shall include the Unit and Position of the missing HT.

6.2

7.
RADIO FREQUENCY (RF) CHALLENGES, INTERFERENCE AND DEADSPOTS
7.1
Throughout the city, members will encounter areas that are RF (radio frequency)
challenged. These areas include but are not limited to hospitals, prisons, big box stores,
shopping malls, high rises, large OMD's, sewage treatment plants, power plants, tunnels
and any structure of unique construction.

Communication transmissions and reception can sometimes be improved by moving a

Some buildings throughout the city have been equipped with proprietary repeaters and
amplifiers for their in-house two way communication needs. The potential exists for
these systems to interfere with FD HT communications.
7.5
As with the previous handie-talkie models, unforeseen and isolated incidents of radio
frequency peculiarities continue to be experienced which interfere with communications.
This occurs due to proximity of radios, radios out of range or poor radio discipline.
