7. General Information
The DSS 4UR-N/-P are components of the Dupline installation system with four inputs and
outputs in semi-conductor design. Amongst others, the devices allows the integration of con-
ventional push-buttons with acknowledge signal to be linked to the system. Because of their
compact design they can be fitted behind push-buttons in deep flush-mounted installation box-
es.
Conventional push-buttons and potential-free switching contacts can be operated with the
DSS 4UR-N/-P via three 4-wire system cables supplied complete with end ferrules. An internal
extended operating signal prevents any multiple switching occasioned by possible contact
bounce.
The outputs of the DSS 4UR-N/-P are each designed for loads of max. 50 mA. Basically, any
desired electrical consumers may be employed; however, the maximum loading capacity may
not be exceeded when using incandescent lamps as indicator lights. For this reason - and be-
cause of the longer lifespan - we recommend the use of LEDs.
While the electrical consumers are driven at 0 V DC on DSS 4UR-P, they have to be connect-
ed to +24 V DC in case of DSS 4UR-N.
8. Important Notes in Advance
In order to protect both life and components, please observe the following safety instructions:
• Installation may only be carried out by authorised, trained technicians.
• The 24 V DC power and Dupline signal supply has to be delivered by sources, which have
to be installed in accordance with the regulations governing protective low-voltage (see
VDE 0100, Part 410, or EN 50090-9-1) as well as the installation has to comply with these
requirements. Even if extensive protective measures have been implemented in the de-
vice, other voltages at the signal inputs could result not only in the destruction of the de-
vice, but also endanger people. For further information please refer to the Dupline Planning

• The in- and outputs of the DSS 4UR-N/-P and the modules themselves must be supplied
by the same power source.
9. Coding
With the DHK 1 hand encoder each channel can be assigned any address between A1 and P8
via the pin strip at the side of the module. The allocation of the channels is as follows:
