Maintenance Method
• Daily cleaning: Rinse inside of bottle with water. Fill half full and shake vigorously. Pour
off water leaving a small amount in bottom covering the electrode plate, then replace
rubber plug and screw on glass bottle.
• Periodic cleaning: Use citric acid to clean the electrode plates. These plates are located
in the top of the base unit. Over time these plates collect mineral deposits and scale.
To clean, fill bottle half way and drop in 5 grams of citric acid, allow to soak for 2 hours,
shake several times and pour off dirty water. Rinse again with clean water.
• Odour treatment: After long periods of use the bottle may give off an odour. Pour in
60°C to 70°C hot water and soak for 5 minutes to eliminate. DO NOT use water over
80°C in the bottle.
• DO NOT POUR BOILING WATER INTO THE GLASS BOTTLE IT WILL DAMAGE OR BREAK
THE GLASS.
• DO NOT clean glass bottle with detergents or volatile solvents. Mild soap and water
work best to clean the glass bottle.
• DO NOT soak the base unit in water. It contains electrical components that can be
damaged by immersing in water.
