REFRIGERANT DEHUMIDIFIER TROUBLESHOOTING
Troubleshooting solutions fall into two categories listed in the third column. Field Solutions (FS) are those proce-
dures that can be handled by the technician in the field. Others solutions should be handled by a repair technician and
are listed as Authorized Service Technician (AST).
WARNING: All the service procedures below should be executed with power off i.e. unplugged.
PROBLEM
The dehumidifier does not op-
erate
The compressor will not start
Blower wheel not turning
Dehumidifier operating but
room not dry
Only partial frost or moisture
on coils
No moisture or frost on coils

Caution
CAUSE
1. No power to machine
2. Switch not turned on
1. Unit turned on too soon
2. Faulty or broken wire
3. Overload preventing
compressor start up
4. Bad compressor
5. Defective relay
1. Obstructed blower
2. Loose blower wheel set
screw
3. Loose or broken wire
4. Burned out fan motor
1. Not enough time to get
dry
2. Poor air movement
3. Excessive air infiltration
1. Possible leak in system
2. Low charge in system
1. Possible leak in system
2. Capillary tubing damaged
3. Compressor not running

SOLUTION
FS
1. Plug in the unit
FS
Check power at outlet
FS
3. Turn on the switch
FS
1. Switch off unit and wait 5
minutes before starting
AST
2. Replace or repair
broken/loose wire
FS
3. Reduce room temperature be-
low 100° F (38° C)
AST
4. Replace or repair compressor
AST
5. Use volt/amp meter to check
relay
AST
1. Remove obstruction.
2. Tighten set screw.

3. Replace broken wire.
AST
4. Replace fan motor.

1. Allow more time for drying
FS
2. Increase air movement with
Dri-Eaz TurboDryers
FS
3. Reduce airflow into the area
being dried

1. Check for leak with gas leak
detector

2. Repair and recharge system
