SPSPP
1. Remove extinguisher from hanging bracket and check security of the bracket, rectify if
necessary. Check exterior of extinguisher for corrosion or damage, if found, withdraw from
service.
2. Ensure safety pin is in position and the extinguisher has not been completely or partially
discharged. If the extinguisher has been completely or partially discharged, discontinue
servicing procedure and commence recharge procedure (Ref. RPSPP).
3. Ensure instruction label is legible, rectify as necessary. Check for damage/corrosion to
extinguisher body. If damage/corrosion is found, mark the extinguisher as condemned
and/or remove from service.
4. Checkweigh the extinguisher against the gross weight recorded when first installed. If
underweight by more than 10% of contents, the extinguisher should be removed from
service and recharged. Invert extinguisher to loosen powder.
5. Check safety pin for free movement. Refit pin and fit new seal and service indicator (in
accordance with service colour code).
6. Check pressure gauge is reading 12 bar (@+20ºc) in the green zone. Check that gauge is
operational by using gauge test kit, ensure that after testing, the needle returns to the
original mark. Fit new gauge sticker. If a deviation of more than 10% is recorded, remove
extinguisher from service and recharge.
7. Check discharge hose, nozzle and clips for wear, cuts or abrasion, where fitted. Replace as
necessary.
8. Fill in details of service, including extinguisher weight, on service label using indelible pen.
Clean extinguisher and return to service.
