Wind relay SIWR
General information
Wind relay SIWR is used with wind sensor SIWS in conjunction with the components
of the SI and Dupline building management system, predominately to protect elec-
tric motor-operated blinds, shades, skylights, etc.
Functionality and output functions
The reed contacts in the SIWS are arranged in such a way that the constant current
generated in the SIWR is pulsed. The frequency of the pulsating current is thus pro-
portional to the prevailing wind force. The arrangement also detects wire breaks or
increased transition resistances and signals these by an alarm, if necessary the A1
output will be energized. A short circuit cannot be detected, but also will not result in
the destruction of the input.
Two LEDs on the front of the evaluation unit show the current status of the device. If
the "fault" LED flashes, the monitoring function is still working but the cause of the
fault must still be determined. If a fault occurs that affects proper monitoring, the
"fault" LED lights up constantly (no flashing) and the output contact is switched on,
indicated by the "on" LED.

The fault indicator automatically resets within approx. 10 s of the fault being correct-
ed, or it can be manually reset by briefly disconnecting the supply voltage. The de-
sired switch value is set via an 8-level switch on the front of the device. When setting
the value, ensure that a higher wind threshold is first accepted due to safety reasons
after briefly disconnecting the supply voltage. A lower wind threshold is immediately
accepted. The semiconductor outputs are designed for use in the SI system. The relay
output facilitates use outside of the system as well.
Mounting
Installation may only be carried out by an authorized, trained technician. Snap onto
mounting rail. Immediately after switching on the supply voltage, the "fault" LED will
flash briefly to signal the initialisation phase.
Guarantee
All professionally installed, unaltered devices are covered by warranty during the
statutory guarantee period from the day of purchase by the end user. The guaran-
tee is not applicable to damage incurred during transport or caused by short-circuit,
overloading or improper use. In the event of defects in workmanship or material,
which are discovered within the guarantee period, the company will provide a repair
or replacement free of charge. The guarantee will be rendered null and void if the
device is opened without authorization.
Please note the following information: The guarantee covers only the proper func-
tion of the device, not the entire system. No liability is accepted if wind damage
occurs to the external system, as the protective capability of the SIWR depends on
many external factors, such as:
» where the anemometer is installed,
» the effects of wind velocity on buildings, for example,
» whether the wind capacity of the external system was correctly estimated,
» the response time/ease of movement of the motors and external system and
» proper installation.
