Maintenance
1. Visual Inspection
Visually inspect the luminaire for signs of water ingress or loose screws, or damage to the cover glass.
The following items should be checked:
All bolts, screws, cable glands and stopping plugs(if applicable) for tightness.
Check condition of the ignitor housing seal and CGB cover seal for signs of wear, cuts or permanent set.
Security and condition of any earthing connections.
Condition of cable between the ignitor housing and CGB control-gear box.
2. Internal; Inspection
Switch off supply and allow the luminaire to cool.
Remove the ignitor housing and check condition of seal. The flamepath is cylindrical and should not require checking
for flamepath gap. Check condition of flamepath surface, both on the ignitor housing and the body spigot for signs of
damage, pitting or corrosion. Refit ignitor housing as detailed above, ensuring to grease the flamepath.
Remove the CGB control gearbox cover and check state of gasket for tears or dirt.
Check tightness of cable gland and tighten as necessary.
Check tightness of all terminal screws.
Check for any signs of water ingress and remedy as necessary.
Check condition of all wiring and electrical components for signs of arcing or overheating.
Refer to Abtech technical department for advice if any components are in doubt.
Refit control gearbox cover and tighten screws.
3. Fault Finding
Any fault finding must be carried out with the luminaire de-energised or in the absence of any flammable atmosphere.
Generally, HID control gear is very reliable and the majority of faults will relate to aged or faulty lamps, if changing the
Fuse Ratings
Fuse Ratings
1. HID lamps are subject to a large current inrush on initial startup and this may be up to 25 times the rated capacitor
current and may last up to 20 milliseconds after initial switch on.
HID lamps have a high initial starting current which declines steadily until the lamp has reached its optimum operating
condition. This starting current may be up to 2.25 times the running current and may not reach normal running current
until 5 minutes after switch on.
Selection of fuses and MCB's should be taken in conjunction with this information and that of the protective device
manufacturer.
Selection of fuse ratings should be made in accordance with wiring regulations and local codes of practice.
If in doubt, please contact Ablux technical department for assistance.
Any protective device fitted, must have a breaking capacity of at least 1500A.
