Ground Drive Adjustments:
When planting, if the monitor indicates under seeding, check the
ground drive to see if it is slipping and adjust as necessary.
1) Raise the planter so that the gauge wheels are just off the
ground.
2) Loose the top nut (12) just above the yoke block.
3) Using an open-ended or adjustable wrench at the integral hex
nut (13), rotate the link to adjust the gauge wheel tension. Using
the base of the link flange, and the pivot grease zerk (14) as ref-
erence points, increase the distance to increase the down-force
on the gauge wheel.
4) Once the desired tension is achieved, re-tighten the top nut
(12).
Adjusting Down Pressure:
1) Use a 1 1/8 inch open-ended wrench or the provided tool
stored on the planter. Position the wrench on the adjusting nut
and pull back and down on the wrench to adjust the cam to a
new setting.
Note: Do not set all rows higher than notch 4 as using this set-
ting on all rows will create an uneven depth control and improper
function.
2) Minimum and maximum settings are indicated by the position
of the adjusting cam. Each notch on the adjusting cam will
increase or decrease the down pressure.
Adjusting Hydraulic Down Pressure:
1) Individually set each row unit to have a mechanical down
pressure setting on 3.
2) Set the tractor's hydraulic lever to constant flow to provide
constant pressure to the down-pressure cylinders. Release the
locking disk (15) and turn the knob (16) on the pressure control
valve.
3) While turning the adjustment knob, observe the pressure
gauge (17) and set the desired pressure. Adjusting the knob
clockwise will increase the down pressure while adjusting the
knob counterclockwise will decrease the overall down pressure.
Note: The recommended pressure range for the planter is
between 400 psi and 600 psi.
Adjusting Disc Contact:
1) Completely raise the planter and install the transport locks
onto the lift-assist cylinders.
2) Remove the side gauge wheels on the row unit to be
adjusted.
3) Remove the bolt (18) retaining the opener disc to the row unit.
Carefully remove the disc (19), noting how many spacers (20)
are outside the disc and inside the disc.
hub components and spacers.
4) To reduce the spacing between the disc, move one spacer
from the inside to the outside of the disc.
5) Re-assemble and check the disc contact for further adjust-
ments.
