This section provides solutions to common problems and it also explains how to
correct unwanted print results.
When the Machine Makes a Beeping Sound
The following table describes the meaning of the various beep patterns that the
machine produces.
Beep pattern
Single short beep
Short, then long beep
2 long beeps
5 long beeps
5 long beeps repeated four
times.
5 short beeps repeated five
times.
• Users cannot mute the machine's beep alerts. When the machine beeps to alert
users of a media jam or ink cartridge request, if the center cover or other covers
are opened and closed repeatedly within a short space of time, the beep alert
might continue, even after normal status has resumed.
• You can enable or disable beep alerts. For details, see "[Initial Setting] Screen".
Meaning
Panel/screen input
A screen key or screen button was
accepted.
pressed.
Panel/screen input rejected.
An invalid key was pressed on the
control panel or screen.
Machine has warmed up.
When the power is turned on or the
machine exits Sleep mode, the
machine has fully warmed up and is
ready for use.
Soft alert
When the print heads are uncapped
for 10 min. or more when an error has
occurred during cleaning the print
heads or printing.
Soft alert
The machine has run out of media.
Strong alert
The machine requires attention
because media has jammed, the ink
cartridge needs replacing, or other
problems have occurred.
