Always replace all batteries together. Do not use batteries of
different types or brands, or batteries with different capacities.
When replacing batteries, ensure the correct polarity (+ / –).
■
Remove the batteries when they are dead or if you will not be
using the article for a prolonged period. This will prevent any
damage if a battery leaks.
■
If a battery has leaked, do not allow your skin, eyes and mucous
membranes to come into contact with the battery acid. If you
touch battery acid, rinse the affected area with abundant fresh
water immediately and contact a doctor as soon as possible.
■
Remove a dead battery immediately and clean the contacts
before you insert new batteries.
■
Use suitable fastening material to hang up the article (not sup-
plied with the article). If you are unsure which fastening ma-
terial is suitable for your wall, seek advice from a specialist
stockist.
■
Set up or attach the article in a safe place on a dry surface.
■
Before drilling, ensure that there are no pipes or cables behind
the intended drilling point.
■
Do not place any heavy objects on the article.
■
Do not place any containers fi lled with liquid, for example vas-
es, on or directly next to the article.
■
Protect the article from heat sources, naked fl ames, sub-zero
temperatures, persistent moisture, wet conditions and collisions.
■
The article must not be used if it shows obvious signs of dam-
age.
■
The individual LEDs cannot be replaced.

NOTE: The article can be operated both with a 4.5-volt DC
mains adapter (4.5 volts, 500 mA) and with three 1.5-volt
batteries of the AA type. Batteries and mains adapters are
not supplied with the device!
Inserting / Changing Batteries
1. Open the battery compartment (5): Grip and press down the
locking lug on the battery compartment cover. Lift up the cover
at the same time.
2. Take the used batteries out if necessary and insert 3 x 1.5 V
batteries of the AA type. Pay attention to the correct polarity
(+ / –).
3. Reattach the battery compartment cover and press it shut.
Make sure that the locking lugs sit in the recesses which are
provided for them. You must hear and feel it engage.
Connecting the Mains Adapter
1. Before connecting the mains adapter, make sure that there are
no batteries in the battery compartment.
2. Connect a 4.5-volt DC mains adapter to the connecting socket
(3) on the article.
3. Connect the mains adapter to a properly installed socket that
is easily accessible. Make sure that the cable of the mains
adapter does not present a trip hazard.

Putting Into Operation
1. Unpack – Unpack all parts and check the items supplied for
completeness (see the "Items Supplied and Article Overview"
section) and possible transport damage. If you fi nd any dam-
age to the components, do not use them (!), but contact our
customer service department.
2. Attach or set up – Attach the article at the height you want on
a wall using suitable fastening materials if necessary.
It is essential that you follow the safety instructions for as-
sembly (see the "NOTE – Risk of Damage to Material and
Property" section).
The article can also be set up on a fl at,
dry surface using the feet (4). To do this,
insert the feet into the recesses on the
back of the article.
3. Power supply – Connect the mains adapter to the article or
insert batteries into the battery compartment (see previous
sections).
4. Switch on / off – To switch on the article, move the On / Off
switch (2) to position •.
To switch the article off again, move the On / Off switch (2) to
the position without a dot.
Cleaning and Storage
CAUTION!

Under no circumstances should you use any corrosive or abra-
sive cleaning agents or sponges to clean the article. These
can damage the surface.
1. Remove the batteries from the article (see the "Inserting /
Changing Batteries" section).
2. Clean the article with a soft cloth and a little mild detergent
if necessary. Then dry it thoroughly before it is repositioned
and / or stored away again.
3. Store the article in a dry place that is protected from sunlight
and is not accessible to children and animals.

Disposal
Dispose of the packaging in an environmentally friendly
manner and take it to a recycling centre.
Dispose of the article in an environmentally friendly man-
ner at a recycling centre for used electrical and electronic
devices. It should not be disposed of in the normal house-
hold waste. More information is available from your local
authorities.
The batteries should be removed prior to disposal of the
article and disposed of separately. To protect the environ-
ment, non-rechargeable and rechargeable batteries must
not be disposed of with normal household waste, but must
be taken to suitable collection points. Also note the relevant
statutory regulations governing the disposal of batteries.
