Driver/Software Installation
☞
The drivers provided are only required for the SIM card reader that is integrated in
the card reader.
The drivers for reading and writing common memory cards are integrated into the
operating system.
Switch on your computer and wait until the operating system has booted completely.
Place the CD supplied in the appropriate drive on your computer. If the installation program
does not start automatically, you have to start it manually, e.g. by using Windows' fi le manager
(the installation program in the main directory of the CD is called e.g. "autorun.exe"). After-
wards, click on "SIM/SMART driver".
Follow all software or operating system instructions.
Connection
☞
If not already done, fi rst install the driver and the software on the CD provided.
Connect the card reader to a free USB port on your computer or a USB hub.
When fi rst connected to the computer, Windows recognises the card reader and completes
the driver installation.
When the card reader is connected correctly, the power LED on the upper side of the card
reader illuminates.
Reading/Writing from or to SIM Cards
www.conrad.com
• Start the software "SimEdit".
• Insert a SIM card in the proper direction into the corresponding slot on the card reader.
Version 10/12
• The software „SimEdit" detects the SIM card and reads it out. The fi les can also be copied
back to the SIM card.
☞
Reading/writing to memory cards
An inserted memory card will be integrated into the operating system like a common removable
drive; a drive letter will be assigned automatically by Windows.
For instance, with Windows fi le manager you can read the data on the memory card (or store
data on the memory card) in the same way as you use the hard disk or a USB stick.
Removing a SIM or memory card, removing the card reader
If a read/write access is underway to the memory card, wait until it is fi nished.
Only after that, a memory card may be removed from the card reader resp. the card reader may
be disconnected from the computer.
☞
Tips & Notes
• Use preferably a USB2.0 port for connecting the card reader.
The maximum data signalling rate used by USB1.1 is only about 800kByte/s.
With USB2.0, several Mbyte/s are possible, depending on the speed of your memory card!
Therefore, for faster transfer always use a USB2.0 port for the card reader (a tremendous
saving of time during data transfer).
• Always remove the memory card or the SIM card fi rst, before switching off the computer.

With many SIM cards, a new device will be displayed in Windows' device manager
after inserting it. Before that, a yellow exclamation mark appears because the SIM
card has not yet been detected correctly. Ignore this, it is normal Windows behaviour!
It is not required to install a driver for the SIM card in order to read it out or to write
on it. Furthermore, very few SIM card manufacturers provide suitable drivers.
When the memory card is removed during reading/writing or when the card reader
is disconncted from the computer during this process, the fi les on the memory card
could be damaged. The same applies to a SIM card.
Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regu-
lations.
