USING YOUR CHIMENEA
IMPORTANT: BEFORE ASSEMBLING OR USING YOUR CHIMENEA FOR THE FIRST TIME
• Always position your Chimenea on a firm and level surface.
• Follow all operating & safety instructions in this manual prior to using your Chimenea for both the first time and
subsequent uses.
• The chimenea should be kept covered and dry at all times when not in use - to avoid any stress or damage when
operating. If the chimenea has been wet at any time - always allow the unit to dry completely before lighting and use.
• In particularly cold regions where snow and ice may be present, the chimenea must be covered and protected from the
elements - never operate the chimenea if ice has collected on the body or flue.

FUEL TYPE & LOADING
• This Chimenea is designed to burn wood only.
• Do not burn coal or coal briquettes.
• The chimenea is designed to burn small logs - approx 100mm / 4in in
diameter or less (as a guide) and a total fuel load not exceeding 3-4 KGS at
any one time. Exceeding this recommendation may damage the chimenea.
FIRST FIRING
When using the Chimenea for the first time - always start with a SMALL fire
and allow this to run until the initial fuel load is burnt through. This will assist the
Chimenea materials to cure and settle. Excessive fuel when starting will cause
excessive, undesirable smoke.
STARTING THE FIRE
• Use a small amount of kindling and some fire starters - or wadded
newspaper to get the fire started.Ensure the fire is burning well before adding
more fuel.
• Once the kindling is well alight, you can slowly start to add some more
firewood. and allow the fire to build naturally.
• Add firewood as required.
• Nut never overload the chimenea it is uneccessary and a waste of fuel.
Sufficient heat will be radiated from the chimenea with just a small load of
fuel at any one time.
EXTINGUISHING THE FIRE
DO NOT use cold water to extinguish the flames as this may damage chimenea.
Generally, the fire should always be allowed to die out naturally. However, if
immediate shutdown of the fire is required, use sand to smother the flames. As
a safety precaution, always remember that coals can remain hot and glowing for
a few days.
When emptying the chimenea for cleaning or maintenance, always use a steel
bucket to retain left over coals and sand.
