SURROUND EFFECT
SURROUND
SPEAKER INSTALLATION
EXAMPLE
To get the best effect out of the surround system, place the speakers
as shown below.

CENTER SPEAKER
Listening area
When
DOLBY
PRO
LOGIC
SURROUND
is used
without
a center
speaker, set the CENTER
MODE switch to the PHANTOM
position.
With DOLBY PRO LOGIC SURROUND, monaural source sound will be
heard only from the center channel at settings other than the PHANTOM
position.
NOTE:
;
* To avoid interference
with the picture on a nearby
TV set, use
magnetically shielded speaker systems. This is particularly important
for the center speaker since it is usually located closest to the TV.
© Position the left and right channel speakers at equal distances from
the TV set.
* Position the center speaker above, below, or behind the TV set. Sound
may not appear to coincide with the picture if you position it next to
the TV set.
¢ Surround speakers are best positioned to set slightly above ear level.

PROCEDURE
For
correct
SURROUND
reproduction,
be
sure
to
perform
this
adjustment.
1. Use SURROUND
MODE
switch to select DOLBY
PRO
LOGIC
SURROUND.
2. Use SPEAKER switches to turn on front, rear and center speakers.
3. Adjust MASTER
VOLUME
to a suitable listening level.
4. Select a monaural source {such as AM radio) or Dialogue portions
of movies.
5. Press BALANCE L and R switches together.
6. Press CENTER
LEVEL
+ and - switches together.
7. Press REAR LEVEL
+ and - switches together.
8. Select the CENTER MODE switch to the OFF position.
9. Adjust rear panel INPUT BALANCE knob to the position that gives
minimum volume from the front and rear speakers.
10. Select CENTER MODE (NORMAL, WIDE, PHANTOM) setting.
11. Turn on TEST TONE switch.
12. Adjust so that volume
is the same
from each speakers.
Use
BALANCE L and R switches, REAR LEVEL + and - switches, and
CENTER
LEVEL switches.
13. Turn off TEST TONE switch when finished.
14.Use AUDIO
INPUT SELECTOR
or VIDEO
INPUT SELECTOR
to
select your desired source.
15. Adjust the desired sound fevel by the MASTER
VOLUME.
NOTE:
* Set in the range of 12 to 15 by remote control operation from the
listening/viewing position.
© The TEST TONE turns off if you operate the [NPUT SELECTOR.
