CHIMNEY REQUIREMENTS

WOOD BURNING
For minimum chimney sizes and types see table below. Certified equivalents tested and listed to UL Test Procedure
103, and ULC S604 rated to 1700°F or 2100°F may also be used if minimum chimney diameter is adhered to.

GAS LOG CONVERSIONS WITH TYPE B-VENT CHIMNEY
When the fireplace is to be converted to gas burning, and solid fuels are never to be burned, then B-Vent type
chimney may be used per the National Fuel Gas Code restrictions (see TABLE 2 below). B-Vent inside diameter
should be a minimum, but not limited to, 8".
WARNING! B-Vent Chimney should never be used when solid fuels are to be burned!
FOLLOW THE INSTALLATION MANUAL PROVIDED BY THE GAS LOG MANUFACTURER
These tables outline allowable B-
Vent diameters for a given BTU
of a natural gas log conversion
set at a defined chimney height
and lateral run. Outlined values
are if two 45 degree elbows are
used.
If four 45 degree elbows are
used, reduce maximum BTU by
10%
If two 90 degree elbows are
used, reduce maximum BTU by
10%.
