Stage 3: Stimulation Cue Stage
Teach your dog to associate correction following a warning cue and the
desired response is to go back to the safe zone.
1. Be sure the warning signal in Fence settings are either V+S or B+S,
depending on the type of warning signal used in the warning stage. This
setting will give a warning for approximately 2 seconds and then apply a
correction, allowing your dog to associate the warning cue with a correction.
2. Walk your dog on a leash in Safe Zone with the collar unit powered on and
fence activated.
3. When your dog enters the Warning Zone, the collar will give a warning.
Wait for approximately 2 seconds for the stimulation to activate. At this
point, lead your dog away from the Warning Zone and back into the Safe
Zone with the leash while giving praise (treats optional). Make sure your
dog feels or hears both the warning turn on for 1-2 seconds and praise only
when you are sure it has turned off.
4. If your dog does not have any sort of response to the stimulation, confirm
the collar is properly fitted and increase the stimulation level by a small
increment.
5. Train in the Stimulation Cue Stage until your dog consistently heads back to
the Safe Zone when he feels or hears the warning. It generally takes 1-3
consecutive days of training, at least 3 times a day to complete the
Stimulation Cue Stage.
NOTE - Instead of using V+S or V+S, the Vib or Beep mode can be chosen.
When performing step 3, the Cont. button on the Handheld unit is pressed after 2
seconds of the warning cue.
