Safety
PLEASE NOTE!
Prior to installation and start-up of the unit, please read
these instructions carefully!
As with all electrical devices, the proper function and safe
operation of this unit depend on the user's compliance with
the standard safety procedures as well as the specific safety
Page
recommendations presented in these Instructions for Use.
2
1. The unit must be used in strict accordance with the
following Instructions for Use. The manufacturer
3
assumes no liability for any damage resulting from
4
the use of this unit for any other purpose.
4
2. Prior to start-up of the unit, ensure that the operating
4
voltage stated on the rating plate is compatible with
4
the available main voltage. Operation of the unit at a
5
different voltage may damage the unit.
5
3. Position the unit so that the power plug is accessible at
5
all times. The power plug is used to turn the unit on and
5
off. To disconnect the charger from the main voltage,
5
remove the power plug from the electrical outlet.
5
4. Use supplied 3M Unitek charger. The use of any
5
other charger can result in damage to the battery.
5
5. The Ortholux
5
away from the eyes in order to avoid serious health
6
consequences due to irradiation of the eyes. Use the
6
eye shield. Exposure must be restricted to the area of
6
the oral cavity in which clinical treatment is intended.
6
6. CAUTION! In cases where the Ortholux Luminous
7
Curing Light will be used outside of the oral cavity
7
additional eye protection may be needed. The
7
reflected light from curing surfaces when not
confined to the oral cavity may be more intense than
7
intra-orally. It is recommended that protective orange
glasses be worn by everyone in close proximity of
7-8
the extraoral curing in addition to the use of the eye-
8
shield on the light.
8
7. CAUTION! The Ortholux Luminous Curing Light
8
generates high intensity light. High intensity light
9-10
always involves the production of heat. The light
10
emitted should be aimed directly above the material
10
to be cured - exposure of the soft tissues (gingiva,
10
oral mucosa, and skin) to high-intensity light should
10
be avoided as such exposure may cause damage
or irritation. If applicable, cover such areas. If
10
exposure of soft tissues cannot be avoided, adjust
the polymerization process to the light level, e.g., by
10
shortening the polymerization times or increasing the
distance between the light guide exit and the material
10
to be cured. When utilizing the light in Extended
11
Mode (15s), do not keep the light in one position.
11
Longer exposure in the region of the pulp can lead
11
to injury or irritation of the pulp, which is why the
12
specified exposure times must not be exceeded.
Luminous Curing Light must be aimed
