2.4 MODE Button - Changing Answering and Audio Device Modes
When the terminal is on hook, the MODE button toggles between standard answer mode and auto-answer mode.
In standard answer mode, the ACTIVE LED remains unlit while the terminal is idle and incoming calls are
announced by the sonalert. Calls must be answered by manually taking the terminal off hook using the ON/OFF
button and incoming audio defaults to the device connected to J2 (handset or headset). In auto-answer mode, the
ACTIVE LED flashes periodically and incoming calls are announced by a ½ -second burst of the sonalert. The call is
then automatically answered and incoming audio is routed to the device connected to J3 (LS-613A/STC-1 or LS-
614A/STC-1). During a call (or anytime the terminal is off hook), pressing the MODE button toggles audio between
the devices connected to J2 and J3. Upon call termination, the audio device selection is returned to J2 for standard
answer mode and J3 for auto-answer mode.
2.5 Disabling Intercom Device Operation
In some implementations, the 65032-300 Analog Terminal will be used only with a handset or headset connected to
J2 (no intercom device used). In these cases, pressing the MODE button during a call would have the undesirable
effect of routing audio to a non-existing device. In these implementations, the MODE button can be disabled by
the following keystrokes: press the MEM button, followed by the * button, followed by the MODE button. After
this sequence is entered, the MODE button will be completely disabled and pressing it will have no effect (no chirp
either) until power to the terminal is cycled.
2.6 Receive Audio Timeout
The 65032-300 Analog Terminal powers up with a 1-minute receive audio timeout enabled. The terminal
incorporates a receive audio detector which registers receive audio above a preset threshold. If no receive audio
above this threshold is detected for a period exceeding 1 minute, the terminal automatically disconnects.
This automatic disconnect can be disabled using the following keystrokes: press the MEM button, followed by the
# button, followed by the MODE button. After this sequence is entered, the receive audio timeout will be disabled
until power to the terminal is cycled.
