Using the Harrier Virtual Serial COM port
The Harrier Virtual Serial COM port is part of the
Software section
of the Active Silicon website. If the SDK is installed, DIP switch SW1 [7] on the
interface board is set to ON and the Harrier USB/HDMI interface board USB port is connected to the
PC with a suitable cable, the Harrier Virtual Serial COM port appears in the Device Manager
COM/LPT Port list (Figure 11).
The Harrier Virtual Serial COM port can be used to send and receive VISCA commands in the same
way as an ordinary serial COM port. As there is no physical serial hardware, the serial port settings
will not affect the function of the Harrier Virtual Serial COM port.
Note: by default the Harrier USB/HDMI Camera Interface Board is configured not to send VISCA
command Acknowledge and Complete responses to optimize the USB video transfer. This behavior
can be changed using the Harrier USB/HDMI interface board VISCA command.
