About this product
The Dynaudio Contour SUB reproduces an extremely precise deep bass. It is
able to reproduce the spectacular low frequency effects featured in modern
film soundtracks without limitation, including loud level bass information in
the LFE (Low Frequency Effects) region as contained in the dedicated deep
bass channel in the signal of any home cinema, multi-channel surround formats.
The Contour SUB has been developed with a specifically designed bass driver
(woofer) measuring 12 inches (30 centimeters) in diameter housed in a bass
reflex enclosure construction. To allow for perfect adjustment and tuning to
both the room acoustics as well as the surrounding loudspeakers, it has a
multitude of adjustment possibilities (in phase, level, crossover frequency,
polarity) which are described in greater detail on the following pages.
Additionally it offers two inputs, a symmetrical balanced (XLR) and an
asymmetrical (RCA). Using the included XLR to RCA adapter the balanced
XLR connection can be transformed into an equivalent RCA-input. The two
input signals are then added and the subwoofer can function as a traditional
subwoofer unit - for example in a two channel stereo set up - thereby
reproducing the deep bass in monaural for both the left and right channels.
The Contour subwoofer is of course active. This implies that the integrated
amplifier was constructed with switches and controls specifically for its
dedicated purpose.

Detection / Protection LED

Wird der Subwoofer angeschaltet, leuchtet die
rechte LED „ Protection" rot auf. Innerhalb der
nächsten fünf Sekunden prüft die Schutzschaltung

die Elektronik und gibt dann die Relais frei.
Die LED erlischt. Auf der Front sehen Sie dann
eine grüne LED, die den sicheren Betrieb signalisiert. Mit der LED „Detect"
wird angezeigt, dass ein Musiksignal anliegt, das pegelmäßig oberhalb von
– 20 dB liegt. Der Subwoofer hat keine Standby-Funktion, dass heißt er schal-
tet sich nicht ab, auch wenn über längere Zeit kein Signal anliegt.

Subsonic Filter

Der Subwoofer hat einen Subsonic-Filter zweiter Ordnung (12 dB/Octave
unterhalb von 15 Hz) um Dröhnen, Verzerrungen oder Überlastungen zu
vermeiden, die durch nicht mehr hörbare Signale verursacht werden.

Sicherheitsschaltung

Um eine Überhitzung der leistungsstarken Elektronik auszuschließen, schaltet
sich bei einer Temperatur von 65°C die Mute Schaltung ein. Sobald die
Temperatur unter 50°C sinkt, schaltet sie sich automatisch wieder ab.
Unter normalen Betriebsbedingungen wird das allerdings nie passieren.
