3.OPERATING YOUR FREEZER
When using the freezer for the first time or after defrosting, turn the temperature control to set MAX for
at least two hours before introducing the food to be stored. Let the freezer cool overnight before adding
large amounts of unfrozen food. Never add more than 2-3 pounds of unfrozen food per cubic foot of
freezer space.
All frozen food products you purchase should be placed in the freezer as soon as possible to avoid the
frozen food from defrosting.
To obtain the best possible results form your refrigerator, it is important that you know how the
mechanism works.
Temperature Control
The temperature in the freezer is controlled by the thermostat control knob in front of the top cover.
Turn the thermostat control knob up or down to regulate the temperature inside the freezer. The
markings on control knob indicated the "MIN, MAX" for the different temperature grades. The
temperature decreases with position "MIN" being the warmest and position "MAX" being the coldest.
Set the control to position between "MIN" and "MAX" for normal use.
NOTES:
urning the temperature control to "OFF" position stops the cooling cycle but does not shut off the
T
power to the freezer.
If the unit is unplugged, lost power, or turned off; you must wait 3 to 5 minutes before restarting the
unit. If you attempt to restart before this time delay, the freezer will not start. Large amounts of food will
lower the cooling efficiency of the appliance.
Defrosting Your Freezer
For the most efficient operation and minimum energy consumption, defrost the freezer when the frost
on the freezer walls is excessive or 5 to 10 mm thick (¼ to ½ inch thick). Complete defrosting and
cleaning should be done at least once a year. In high humidity areas, a freezer may need more
frequent defrosting and cleaning.
CAUTION
Never use a sharp or metallic instrument to remove frost as it may damage the cooling coils
and will void the warranty. We recommend using a plastic scraper.
STEPS:
Remove the frozen food from the freezer. Wrap frozen food in several layers of newspaper and
•
cover with a blanket. Food will stay frozen for several hours. You can also store the frozen food
in a cooler, additional refrigerator-freezer, etc...
Turn the thermostat knob to "OFF". The power light will go off. Unplug the freezer, the power
•
supply light should be off (green light out).
During defrosting, the ice melts into the cabinet. Clean the interior of the freezer.
•
Reset the thermostat to desired setting.
•
Allow the cabinet to cool for one hour.
