Chapter 7
Checking Connections
7.1

Turning on the Devices

To turn on the connected devices, use the following procedure:

Turn on any devices (such as LAN switches) on the LAN path between the ETERNUS DX and server.

After checking that the Ready (or equivalent) LED of the LAN switch is lit, turn on the ETERNUS DX
storage systems.

After checking that the ETERNUS DX's Ready LED is lit, turn on the server.

Setting Up the Server to Recognize the Logical Units

Make the server recognize the logical units (LUN) set in the ETERNUS DX storage systems.

Use the "ioscan" command to check which devices are connected.
Enter as follows for LegacyView (old format) results:
# ioscan -fn
Enter as follows for AgileView (HP-UX11iv3 and newer format) results:
# ioscan -fnN
