UNDERSTOOD BEFORE USING THIS PRODUCT. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT
IN PROPERTY DAMAGE, SERIOUS INJURY, OR DEATH.
Squids® Split Rings are designed to be retrofit tool attachments to create tethering
connection points on tools that don't have adequately sized connection points to begin
with.
Unless otherwise noted the Squids® Split rings are rated for tools weighing no more
than 2lbs // 0.9kg and are intended to be installed into smaller captive connection
points that already exist on the tool.
• Do not use Tool Attachments in temperatures below -40°F / -40°C or above
150°F / 65°C.
• Never exceed the allowable capacity for any tethering system component. Refer
to individual component's label. Your tethering system is only as strong as your
weakest link.
• Tool and lanyards are for tool use only. They are not for human support, nor are
they intended to be part of a human fall protection system.
• For tools weighing more than 5lbs / 2.26kg, do not tether such tools to the human
body, unless specifically authorized per the product instructions.
• Always inspect tool lanyards and all parts of your tethering system prior to, and
after, each use (refer to inspection steps).
• Never modify or alter tool attachments.
• Never modify a tool or primary anchoring location that could result in
manufacturer guideline deviation.
• Do not use this product if it interferes with the tool's safe working condition,
or the anchoring location—including personal fall protection.
• Use extra precaution around moving machinery or parts, electrical hazards,
chemical hazards or other apparent hazards.
• Never attach a tool with a Squids® Tool Attachment to a lanyard that is longer than
the Maximum Lanyard Length indicated on the product label of the attachment.
• Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment when installing or using
tethering systems.
SPLIT RING INSTALLATION
• Weigh the tool to be retrofitted with the split ring and ensure it does not
exceed 2lbs // 0.9kg and make sure the attachment area is clean and dry before
application.
• For easier installation use a split ring pliers or other pliers to help pry the split ring
open.
1. Open one end of the split ring wire. (Fig. 1)
2. Slide the open end through desired location on the tool and twist until the ring is
fully captured on the tool. (Fig. 2)
3. Connect a tool lanyard to complete your tethering system. (Fig. 3)
After use, clean the Split Rings and connected tool or equipment to remove dirt,
corrosives or contaminants. Wipe with a clean cloth and hang to dry away from
excessive heat, steam, or sunlight.
Store in a clean and dry environment, free from fumes or corrosive elements. Proper
care of safety equipment helps to ensure that it will operate effectively and to extend
its service life.
