Enhancements
This section describes enhancements for the firmware 8.0.2.02.00 release.
Transparent Router
Transparent Router (TR) functionally provides seamless and transparent connectivity of 8/20q Fibre
Channel Switches to HP B-Series fabrics. TR functionality allows each port on the 8/20q Fibre Channel
Switch to be configured as a TR port, enabling the sharing of server and storage resources between
SANs through the industry-standard NPIV protocol. TR functionality eliminates the support and
management challenges of E_Port switch interoperability. TR functionality also provides a higher level
of security by ensuring that only customer-specified devices are visible and shareable between fabrics.
For more details and the most recent information on supported B-Series switches, see the HP
StorageWorks SAN Design reference guide located on the HP website:
sandesignguide, or contact an HP storage representative for the latest support information
Fixes
The following issues have been fixed in this release (since the release of firmware version 7.6.0.02.00).
The Offline Switch Diagnostics type Connectivity was not available in QuickTools.
When running internal port diagnostics on a switch, intermittent failures may have occurred with
interswitch links.
If the accounting server option was enabled and multiple Windows RADIUS servers were configured
and available on the network, and if network performance varied, the message All RADIUS
servers failed to respond may have been displayed when authentication was attempted.
In the CLI, you could not edit the Binding attribute in the security configuration if FabricBindin-
gEnabled was disabled.
Replacing an SFP while running port and/or switch diagnostics resulted in the clearing of media
information.
QuickTools dialogs are modal, that is, designed to stay on top of a parent window or pop to the
top of a parent window when the parent window is selected. On Linux platforms, there is a known
issue for the Java plug-in (Sun bug #4739735), where the code to identify the parent frame does
not work correctly. The result was that all the dialogs acted as if they were non-modal, and they
could appear on top of or behind their parent window, and the parent was locked up by the
dialog. This situation occurred when switching between other applications while using QuickTools
