Eyepiece micrometer discs tan be inserted into WHIOX-H (and WHIOX)
eyepieces.
Use 24 mm diam. x 1.5 mm micrometer discs. Following Fig. 30, unscrew
the micrometer mounting frame @ from the eyepiece and place a micro-
meter disc @ into the mounting frame. The engraving on the micrometer
disc @ should face downward into the micrometer mounting frame 0.
Screw the micrometer mounting frame back into the eyepiece tube.
Slide the light path selector knob @ to select the desired light path.
0 The selector knob is ordinarily at the middle position. With dark specimens,
push the knob in. If additional light is needed for television or photo-
micrography, pull the knob out.

Note: The U-llR is not equipped with a light path selector knob. The intensity
ratio of this Observation tube is 20% for binocular eyepieces, 80% for TV/
photography.
0 Adjust the height and tilt of the Observation tube to obtain the most
comfortable viewing Position. Holding the binocular section with both
hands, raise or lower it to the desired Position.
j, Never attempt to forte the binocular
section past the upper or
lower stop positions. Applying
excessive forte could destroy the
limiting
mechanism.
+ When using the U-TBI-2 tilting Observation tube, only the viewing
attachments
U-DO, U-MDO, U-SDO and the eyepoint adjuster U-
EPA tan be used. However, when using Plan20X (for a general
P-level configuration),
illumination
at the periphery will be slightly
insufficient
and vignetting
in the peripheral
field may occur when
the apetture
iris diaphragm
is stopped down near its minimum
size. (If intermediate
attachment
combinations
other than the
designated
are used, illumination
at the periphery will be slightly
insufficient.)
0 When using the U-TTR tilting Observation tube, the straight Photo tube
U-SPT or various Video adapters (with the exception of the double-port
U-DPT) tan be mounted on the trinocular Observation tube.
* The U-TBI tilting Observation tube is not recommended
for use in
combination
with intermediate
attachments.
