Getting Started with the Follett 6102

Link Modes

If you are using more that one 6102 scanner, it is important to remember

that a base unit can be linked to only on scanner at a time. To help optimize

your usage of multiple scanners, your Follett 6102 Cordless Scanner system

offers two modes of link control: Open Link Mode and Locked Link Mode.

Open Link Mode

In this mode, if a scanner is placed in a base unit that it was not previously

linked with, the base unit will clear any previously linked scanner and

automatically link to the new scanner. This can offer the versatility of placing

a scanner in any base unit, but will cause the scanner originally linked to that

base unit to become inoperable until it is linked with another base unit. To set

the Open Link Mode, scan the barcode below.

Locked Link Mode

This mode locks the base unit to a single scanner and will not allow it to

link to a different scanner if one is placed in the base. The base unit will

still charge the scanner, but it will not link to it. This mode offers the greater

assurance that a scanner will not be accidentally unlinked from its base unit.
