WARNINGS
Failure to follow these warnings and the instruc-
tions could result in serious injury or death.
c Infants can suffocate in gaps between a
mattress too small or too thick and crib sides;
or on soft bedding. NEVER add a mattress,
pillow, comforter or padding.
c The crib must be fully assembled prior to use.
The bottom locks the crib in position for use.
c Make sure latches are secure prior to use.
c Strings can cause strangulation! Never place
items with a string, such as hood strings or paci-
fier cords, around a child's neck. Never suspend
strings over crib or attach strings to toys.
c Discontinue use of product when child is able to
climb out or reaches the height of 35" (890 mm).
c Child can become entrapped and die when
improvised netting or covers are placed on top
of product. Never add such items to confine
child in product.
c When child is able to pull to standing position,
set mattress/base to lowest adjustment
position and remove bumper pads, large toys,
and other objects that could serve as steps for
climbing out.
c Never place product near a window where
cords from blinds or drapes can strangle
a child.
c Replace teething rail if damaged, cracked,
or loose.
c Use ONLY mattress/pad provided by manufac-
turer (which must be at least 37¼ in. long by
23 in. wide and not more than 3½ in. thick).
c Child in crib must be under supervision at
all times.
c To reduce the risk of SIDS, pediatricians
recommend healthy infants be placed on their
back to sleep, unless otherwise advised by
your physician.
c Never use this product if there are any loose
or missing fasteners, loose joints, broken
parts, or torn mesh/fabric. Check before
assembly and periodically during use. Contact
Community Playthings for replacement parts.
Never substitute parts.
c Never leave child in product with the side
lowered. Be sure side is in raised and locked
position whenever child is in product.
c Never use plastic shipping bags or other plastic
film as mattress covers not sold and intended
for that purpose. They can cause suffocation.
c Never use a water mattress with this product.
c If refinishing, use a nontoxic finish specified
for children's products.
For Evacuation Cribs ONLY:
c During an evacuation, do not attempt to
travel over uneven ground.
c Do not attempt to cross thresholds over ½"
high, unless they are sloped to less than a 30 º
angle.
c Always pre-plan your evacuation in advance:
• Decide on a route and walk the empty
crib through the entire course before
attempting it with a child in the crib.
• Decide where the cribs will be set after
evacuation from the building. Select a
level area which will be out of the way of
emergency responders.
• Make arrangements for the care of the
evacuated children, even in the event of
inclement weather. Make sure that enough
adults are available to provide constant
supervision for the children in this chaotic
and upsetting situation.
